Child Of Nuin

I don't think rice is going to fix this.

I don’t think rice is going to fix this.

Well, shit. The first real day of my detox and things have already gone pear shaped. I was trying to document my week of detox via film, but apparently my mini-tripod hates me and fell over. And dunked the top of my camera into the almost-completed shake mixture. I panicked so hard and just cried over it for a good 15 minutes, all the while getting my boyfriend on the phone to ask what to do, doing it, and cleaning everything up. I really hope that the rice is going to fix it, but I have a bad feeling that it’s not. And if that’s the case, then I’m going to have to buy a new camera… even though this one was a present from my mum.

Other than that, the day went pretty good. Leaving out the Lecithin was a really good idea. As was straining the shake before I drank it. Though that may have taken away some of the vital components, so I’m going to try it without straining it tomorrow. I had to give my work mate a lift to pick up her car from where she parked it yesterday, since she was too drunk to pick it up herself last night, but apart from that all I did was some housework, since the family is coming up tomorrow, and I’m getting kicked out of my room to make room for them. The getting kicked out I don’t mind so much (well, I do, but I put up with it), but the fact that my cousin has three young children who are going to be sleeping in the room that I classify as my sacred space, worries me a little. It worries me every time, because every time I think that they’re going to break something, or pick up something sharp from my altar, or accidentally swallow one of my tumbled stones. And now, with the addition of my ancestral shrine, I am twice as worried. There are things that I have placed on there that I do not want them to touch, but really shouldn’t have to move just because we’re having family over.

I mean, they treat our house like their shack. I really don’t have any expectations that there are going to be too many boundaries. I guess we’ll see what happens when the time comes.

On a different note, my dog has some kind of throat sickness. We have to feed her cough syrup three times a day. Even with a syringe, she doesn’t make it easy for us. That’s something I am not looking forward to doing over the next couple of days.

My new baby.

My new baby.

So, my mother has a habit of buying my birthday presents when I mention I think I’d like something, instead of waiting for my actual birthday. Of course, that means on the day I (sometimes) don’t get anything, but according to her it’s the easier way to go about things, since she wouldn’t know what to get me otherwise.

So I have a new baby.

If anyone remembers that I was talking about my (then current) camera being a lot of money, yet way worse than a camera I was looking at getting that was a third of the price (See January 18th), then you’ll understand that it is something that I was more than a little excited about getting.

It’s so pretty and shiny. And purple. Can’t forget that it’s purple.

But the specs guys. Oh the specs. I honestly cannot tell you exactly how much I love this camera already. The battery from the old camera fits the new one, so I have spare batteries and a rather lovely 16GB memory card. Which is a rather big step up from the 2GB XD memory card I was using for my old camera. I just… oh god, I am so pleased with this. I will now be able to take beautiful HD video, as well as decent photos and great macros, all by touching the screen to focus.

Did I mention it’s a touch screen? No? Oh, well it is. Just so you know.

Anyway, 3am start. I really need to hit the hay. I was going to at least shove in a photo of my hair but… well… no one really want to see that. It’s black with a blue streak. Nothing revolutionary. You’ll see it in photos anyway.

Gotta love macro shots.

Gotta love macro shots.

I really need to set multiple alarms. I know that mum goes off at me for it, but if I only set one then I sleep right through it and end up waking up at midday after going to sleep at 2.30. Why are my sleeping hours so weird?

Anyway, three guesses as to what I actually did today. And two of those don’t count. If you said anything but “taking a metric shit-tonne of photos”, you would be incorrect. -10 telepathy. Yes, I went outside (shock, horror) and took over 100 photos with mum’s old camera, which is now mine. It’s not all that great, as far as cameras are concerned. I mean, it’s an Olympus fe-3010 so it’s not like it’s a really poor camera, but the Olympus website has the RRP around the $300 mark. I know for a fact that I can get a better quality photo from a camera I have seen on sale for $105. Which is saying something, really. But it’s a camera, and I don’t have to pay anything for it, so I can’t really complain. The macro focus is a bit touchy, especially on small things like tiny buds or vines, but overall it’s an okay camera for general stuff. So again, not great, but it’s free, so no complaints. I’m still looking into buying a new one for YouTube and cosplay photo shoots, but I’m going to see if the one I want will go on sale first.

In any case. I took a butt load of photos today.
